  1. IMS Health is well known to pharma professionals all over the world, can you tell us more about your new identity, IQVIA? In what ways does it remain the same and what are new offerings?

Our clients have been instrumental in our becoming IQVIA. IMS Health and Quintiles came together because our clients were asking for better, faster ways to bring innovations to patients and capture the improvements the industry has been pursuing for years. Since the merger, we’ve worked to integrate our capabilities in advanced analytics, leading technologies and therapeutic expertise into powerful, differentiated offerings. Our vision is to outpace the inevitable progress of change across the life sciences and accelerate our ability to empower healthcare decision makers to meet the future head on.

We recognize that within India – and globally – the healthcare industry is entering a new era. The dual goals of curing the sick and preventing the healthy from becoming sick are increasingly attainable. In support of these aims, we at IQVIA are exploring a new discipline – Human Data Science – that brings the complexity of human science with data science to improve health outcomes. Human Data Science is the confluence of data about people (as individuals, as patients segments and as broad populations), of the tools and expertise to protect that data while making it usable, and of the scientific background to generate insights. Human Data Science, by combining fields that have been treated as distinct in the past, will allow us to understand what works in healthcare … and to reimagine what is next.

  1. Can you bring our readers up to date on the evolution of market research in Indian Pharma and where does it stand today? How does India compare to other regions of the world in the scope and use of market research data in decision-making?

India is unique from the rest of the world.  Large parts of the supply chain and ecosystem still operate on manual or semi-automated systems even as huge strides are being made in mobile smartphone penetration and internet usage.  This is leading to a shift in the mindset of healthcare and pharma industry players towards adopting deeper analytics-driven decision making and more granular information. Globally, our clients see the value of the data, technology solutions and analytics IQVIA provides. In India, IQVIA is also focusing on building more granularity and depth in analytics and data across the various solutions we provide.  We see India as an important country that’s well positioned to benefit from these advanced offerings – specifically regarding areas such as decisions related to brand and drug launches, physician and patient engagement and awareness building, supply chain management and real-world evidence.

  1. What is the bouquet of solutions that IQVIA provides to address these challenges in the Indian market?

IQVIA is uniquely equipped to address the various needs of life sciences clients within the Indian market. We are in a position to complement market research data with our syndicated data assets with a higher level of precision than ever before, social media insights we are able to glean through AI based algorithms and automated search as well as data we secure from a wide network of third-party collaborators within the health-tech space. In combination with our in-house consulting and analytics expertise, these solutions allow us to offer our clients better value for every dollar spent on market research.

  1. Tell us something about Sales View and collaboration with MedicinMan and how it can benefit Indian Pharma professionals?

IQVIA’s Sales View is an App for sales reps and sales, brand and marketing managers in life sciences companies and is one of three major digital platforms that IQVIA has built which is focused on emerging markets, the other two being for doctors and patients. Sales View’s vision is to become a digital learning and capability development companion for life sciences commercial organizations, from sales reps to managers.

  • We are launching Version 1 with three types of content in the App relevant to this audience –
    • IQVIA market data-based insights by our analysts,
    • Industry news and related IQVIA case studies/thought leadership
    • Content sourced from industry thought leaders in the form of sales tips, organizational tips, etc. This is where the collaboration with MedicinMan comes into play where users will have access to customized content from MedicinMan via our App

In the future we would like to enrich the Sales View App with more features such as

  • AI-enabled coaching for sales reps and managers to improve in-clinic conversation effectiveness with healthcare professionals,
  • Skill development and continuing education on new topics through educational videos, etc.
  • Sales capabilities in allied fields such as med-tech.
